VERD° FACADE is a solution for the greening a wide variety of building types – industrial facilities, office spaces, public and residential buildings. VERD° FACADE cools down the building behind it by providing shade, captures fine dust and stores CO₂. In addition, it can serve as an insect habitat and contribute to urban biodiversity.
The construction is based on the static principle of tension, deflection and tension. The plant sails, which are up to 10 metres high, and the textile planters are tensioned on steel cables parallel to the façade. Thanks to this innovative design approach, there are few points of contact with the existing façade and little static strain. The sails move almost freely in front of the façade with minimum interference. This is a major advantage when greening thermally insulated, gridded or listed façades. The planters and nets can be installed at different heights. VERD° FACADE works with a wide variety of façade constructions and window grids – for new as well as existing buildings.
Like all products of the VERD° system, VERD° FACADE is cultivated seasonally: fast-growing annual climbing plants climb upwards on flax nets in summer – in the autumn, the resulting biomass is harvested together with the climbing aids and recycled. With their abundance of flowers, the plant sails are an aesthetically pleasing addition to the building in summer while at the same time improving the quality of the air and having a positive impact on the urban ecology. For companies that need to comply with greening requirements or wish to fulfil self-imposed sustainability goals, VERD° FACADE offers a simple, flexible and scalable solution on the way to climate neutrality.
The first VERD° FACADE modules were installed in 2024 for greening the façade of a data centre located in Frankfurt.
